Mortal Kombat was adapted into two major motion pictures, Mortal Kombat (1995), and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997). Neither film was screened for critics prior to theatrical release. The first movie was released on August 18, 1995 and grossed $23 million dollars on its first weekend.[62] Mortal Kombat was well received by fans of the series and became a financial success, eventually grossing $70 million in the U.S. (and over $122 million worldwide) while jump starting the Hollywood careers of Paul W. S. Anderson and Robin Shou, among others.[63] That momentum did not carry over into Annihilation, however, which suffered from a poor reception by critics and fans alike, grossing only $36 million in the U.S. and $51 million worldwide, compared to the first movie's worldwide intake of $122 million.[64]
^^Wikipedia excerpt.
This current trailer starring Michael-Jai White as Jax (Head of Police) looks gruesomely realistic! Having Baraka and Reptile as inhumane psychotic killers, in a NY state under seige. Chinese overlord, Shao Kahn, is hosting a 'Last Man Standing' event inviting the world's top assassins, mercenaries and murderers in general. This spin on it is a breath of fresh air, giving you a realistic perspective of Mortal Kombat. Without further adieu here's the trailer:
No definite release date is set, nor is their any word out that a movie is in the making but by this: I personally CANNOT WAIT!
