Kray-Z Debuts "Nuh Normal" Music Video

‘Nuh Normal’, the name of Kray-Z’s first official music video, has dropped TODAY, as the artiste gears up for full on promotion of this single.

The riddim was released in early 2011 and is still picking up major recognition, rotation and positive reviews.

The song, internationally produced, is a great feel-good song, which Kray-Z himself is absolutely in love with.

“The beat has this mellow, fresh, cross-over vibe and once I heard it I knew I was going to dedicate this one to the ladies,” he said.

“The song is basically a take on the classic boy meets a girl story. Visually relaxing, the video offers the viewers a chance to experience the fun interaction of the couple, and him finding a girl that’s ‘swagging’ like him” Kray-Z continued.

The video was shot and directed by the fast-rising creative team at RD Studios, who recently shot the video for Aidonia’s single ‘Summer Sun’ and Beenie Man’s ‘Let’s Go’ on the ‘Overproof Riddim’.

“We decided to go for a cool, clean and relaxed feel, we explored local and other Caribbean locations in order to capture the true mood and spirit of the song” The team at RD Studios commented.

‘The concept is easy to follow and I’m sure most of the viewing public, especially the younger demographic will be able to relate to the video. Its simple and engaging, so I’m positive Kray-Z will be able to make that connection with his fans,” they continued.

Kray-Z who released his ‘Pull Up Dat Vol. 1’ mixtape in April of this year, says he’s working hard to put out good music and that he is aiming to pursue a credible longevity within the entertainment industry.

G3 Muzik produced, ‘Here I Come’ and ‘One Night Stand’ are singles yet to be released by Kray-Z, so with his lyrical punches, versatility and ultimate love for music he is sure to make it to the top while perfecting his craft every step of the way.

Take a look at a few fashion trends for the spring and upcoming summer of 2011. Not everyone can afford couture fashion, or you may not even like the look. Its just to give you an idea of the styles of the season, you can edit your wardrobe according to your budget and style. JUST BE FRESH! BE MULA!

1. Sheer Maxi Dress

At the time of writing we've only noted two takes on the sheer maxi dress / maxi skirt trend (more will join an set-to-grow list below), both worn by supermodel Abbey Lee Kershaw. A fusion of the maxi dresses and the sheer fashion trend.

2. Lace

A trend round-up to inspire you for late summer 2010, but also a trend that you'd be amiss not to carry in to Autumn/Fall 2011 : lace dresses and lace skirts.

How to Wear it :

The ultimate balance of lace in 2010 / 2011 is to be romantic but not over-girly; sensual but not over-suggestive. Like taking beautifully crafted lace that would have once been part of a garment and making it the only layer. The lace isn't an added detail of a garment, it is the garment. And thus we come to lace skirts and lace dresses. Dare to wear them without a slip underneath. Just keep the cut a little more relaxed or the hem a little longer to maintain that aforementioned balance.

3. Capri Pants

Skinny pant cuts may have dominated the landscape for several years now... but there have always been other styles coming and going around the nebulous edges of the fashion world. For Spring 2011 the slim-cut, though not necessarily skin tight, cropped pant gets a look in as one of those alternatives.

4. Tail Hems (Dresses Longer at the Back)

They cover, yet they expose. And they're a simple way to freshen up your Spring 2011 wardrobe with a new type of cut.

5. Stripes (for summer)

Note that I didn't say bold stripes, but dominant stripes. While navy and white stripes are a must for the look (though black and white can also work in 2011), the real key to Summer's take on nautical stripes is that they dominate the outfit.

6. Jumpsuits

'All of the Lights' is the fourth track from the 33-year-old rapper's platinum selling album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

The track's video was released without any promotional hype, after being announced just an hour before.

The track was released on US radio on January 18. It features additional vocals from several other recording artists, including John Legend, The-Dream, Elly Jackson, Alicia Keys, Fergie, Kid Cudi and Elton John, but Rihanna is solely credited as a featured artist on the single.

Directed by Hype Williams, the clip features appearances from Rihanna and Kid Cudi. It was filmed in January.

If you have ever been one of those persons (guys mainly) who go out in search of a unique shirt and have left every store disappointed because everywhere you went was the same? Well I have solved your problem and have found you the ultimate clothing line – M.U.L.A. Clothing Company.

M.U.L.A provides the public with high-end clothing that accentuates the lifestyle and flair of, said, beau monde.They incorporate the modern Jamaican identity and creativity into their designs, reflecting us and our patrons.

Wanting to find out who was behind such creativity, I caught up with Sean Patrick, one of the founders of Mula.

M.U.L.A. Clothing Company is an entity of Mula Enterprises Ltd., which is a distributor of luxury attire (via M.U.L A.) and subsequently other items and services that caters to the beau monde.

Mula was founded July of 2008, priorly Fidel Designs, and legally licensed and copyrighted January 2009. This was carried out by me, Sean Patrick, and associate, Ryan Nembhard, along with Michael Brydson

When Sean was asked why they started the company, he simply said:

I, personally, [had the urge to] start this company because I could never find a shirt that I truly loved, that fits my taste perfectly. Hence, I filled the obvious gap. Ask the others and they may have another reason.

Sean believes M.U.L.A thrives on the desire to produce clothing that drastically influences the fashion trends of the high-end niché market that Mula serves.

So, in times where fashion is an everyday word and something that almost everyone can take on, there must be something different about M.U.L.A, something that sets the bar for this unique clothing line.What is it you may ask?

Our ideas, at the risk of sounding arrogant, we are incomparable to any other clothing company with Caribbean roots. We bring the European market to home soil discommunicating ourselves completely from the “Roots Wear” craze, that is highly saturated and lacks class, no offense intended…lol. We also will be offering custom designs. We’re fresh you can only compare us to farm goods…lol. The world is dynamic… and so is Mula.

So, if you still need more convincing that Mula is what you should be wearing, Mula will be having their official launch in Easter.

To begin, I apologize for the lengthy delay in publishing this interview; so to make up for it, we will also be including a review of the new event Kirov Club [ N I N E ] - Coming Soon!

We'll be starting with the long-awaited interview:

We got in contact with Mikhail DaCosta, affiliate of STOC and Dream Elite.

MVLA: What is STOC? Give us a brief history of the group and the names of the core members.
STOC: Well, it's an acronym - it stands for 'Sure Touch Of Class'. The group is formed from a merger of two promotional groups: Sure Entertainment and Pure Class Entertainment - from this merger birthed the name 'Sure Touch Of Class (STOC). We view STOC as a family, a group of closely-knitted friends. We've been working together for the past 5 years. Core members are Omar Clarke, Marc Wells, Adrian Wilson, Richard Brown, Alessandro Boyd and Mikhail DaCosta.

MVLA: What would you say STOC represents and how does the name connect with your core values?
STOC: Simply, it represents what we stand for: ensuring that all events made under our banner will all have one thing in common, regardless of entry fee - a Sure Touch of CLASS!

MVLA: So any past events?
STOC: We've done many events, both commercial and private. However, our most popular events are Santa's Guest List, Fragrance and RE:FILL. Our most active season would definitely be Jamaica's Prime Party Period - Christmas. We toyed with the idea of an event named after its date, [DECEMBER||NINETEEN], but since then we have reshaped and refined the company's approach to nightlife events.

MVLA: What's next for STOC?
STOC: We have a couple projects in the works for 2011, but, for now we're gonna keep all details 'hush hush', as the party promotion industry in Jamaica is very competitive, and we'd like to keep certain vultures from picking at our scraps. However, our current venture is a party series, [ N I N E ]. With the title sponsors, Kirov, we are able to offer premium vodka mixes for the LOW!

MVLA: What inspired the name, [ N I N E ]?
STOC: We were having a 'brainstorming' session within the team, and we were all pondering the same questions -'What do we love about going out?', 'What really drags us out of the comfort of our homes to party, instead of just casually hanging out with friends?". We were left with a total of 9 answers, as there was no way we could focus on just one answer; we presented to the world Kirov Club [ N I N E ]! A cornucopia of everything that makes a party, a PARTY!

MVLA: What is your take on the MVLA Lifestyle and how do you think STOC and/or its event [ N I N E ] represents that?
STOC: Well, one of the tenets of Club [ N I N E ], is haute couture and what's more haute than MVLA? Also, this event is targeted towards the beau monde, and we think the MVLA Lifestyle LIVES these values! The MVLA Lifestyle has a certain identity that we feel matches our brand and embraces us as a generation and party culture. Its their individuality, their independent sense to be different; thats what the STOC and [ N I N E ] brands represent.

MVLA: Give us some more info on [ N I N E ].
STOC: Kirov Club [ N I N E ] is a one night club experience like no other. We are offering the best in music, drinks and decor. Our djs are carefully selected; not only just by who's hot on the radio or in the scene but also underground. We also have a list of international selection that would be blazing Kirov [ N I N E ] on occasions. In a showing for his movie “Runaway”, Kanye West admitted to the people that there was a time when he considered suicide. The 33 year old rapper felt that everything was being taken away from him when he lost her mother, Donda West together with 3 individuals who have been like parents to him in the last 3 years.

“Everything has been taken away from me,” the rapper confessed. ”I’m so not…scared. I so don’t care.”

But things are different nowadays for the self-proclaimed “soldier of culture” and an icon of pop. He vowed never to give up ever again. He admitted that it’s been a hard year for him but he’s now looking at life like a 5 year old and that helped him get the creative juices flowing. He also took a long break for 6 months after the Taylor Swift incident.

While he never said when was the time he contemplated on killing himself, he gave hints about the subject in the song “Power” with the lines “Now this would be a beautiful death – I’m jumping out the window, I’m letting everything go.”

West is now a director with a 35 minute short film under his belt. In the film, 9 new songs are featured. The film is expected to be released this upcoming weekend on BET, MTV and VH1.

BANNED! : Kanye West's Album Art Woes

As you may know, the Album Art is bestowed with the job of portraying, abstractly or directly, what the album represents or what the artiste was feeling at the time of creation of the album. Hence, Mr. West's fury and disappointment at the banning of his album art in the US (his biggest market).

The album name: 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fanstasy'.

Dark and Twisted indeed.

The Album Art is a painting, by artist George Condo, of Kanye sitting nude on a couch with a bottle (presumably alcohol) in one hand and a no-armed, nude, winged woman with a polka-dotted tail and fangs. He, himself, also has a set of fangs also. Judging by the themes of the songs he has been releasing this album cover portrays him and his music very well. This from an AVID Kanye fan, but, one can't help but think: 'He needs help'.

West took to Twitter to voice his displeasure, stating

“Yoooo they banned my album cover!!!!! Ima tweet it in a few …” adding a short while later, “Banned in the USA!!! They don’t want me chilling on the couch with my phoenix!”

“In the ’70s album covers had actual nudity … It’s so funny that people forget that … Everything has been so commercialized now,” he complained.

West’s album drops on November 22.

After performing new songs for Facebook and Twitter, Kanye West made more news by announcing that his album title, Good Ass Job, was getting scrapped. The news came from his new Twitter account, one that has already gotten more than 250,000 followers in about two days. Now, Kanye is continuing to preview material from his album, including a sneak peak at the video for his track, "Power. "

"Power" will be handled by Italian born artist Marco Brambilla, who has gained a lot of acclaim in the art world for his previous work. While the video is still under wraps, New York Times' Artsbeat got a chance to see some of the visuals. Dave Itzkoff described the video in short, saying, "...Mr. West is seen standing imposingly with aheavy chain around his neck. As Mr. West raps, the camera slowly zooms out in one continuous, unedited take to reveal him in a classical structure, surrounded by female attendants who are partly or entirely nude; some kneel before him on all fours, others wear devil horns and still others are suspended upside down from the ceiling. The sword of Damocles hangs precariously over Mr. West’s head, and behind him an unseen executioner is preparing to strike him with a blade."

Still, they were not permitted to view the entire video, which is being kept private for now. The artist, Brambilla, spoke about the project with the Times.

"It’s kind of apocalyptic, in a very personal way,” he said. “This would be a beautiful death...It had this very dark, personal conflict within it. Because of his own concept of celebrity and his own notoriety, he’s keenly self-aware of all these things. And it all came out in the music.”

He went on to add more details.

“It’s a moment of transition for him. It’s like the end of an empire. It’s him becoming mortal again.”

“It’s a very exaggerated, hyper-sensational version of what the song is saying. But at the same time, it has this fallibility to it. Because built into the story is that there is an ultimate fallibility, in bringing someone back down to earth at the end of the piece. That kind of contradiction, hopefully, will create the tension within it.”

“I like controversy,” he added. “The more controversial it gets, the more interesting it is.”

Hello world… I’m good. Counting the days and still smiling. Most of those smiles come from hearing my kids’ voices over the phone. The others come from reading fan mail. Let me just say that I have the best fans in the world! The devotion, dedication, support, love, and most of all, prayers are simply the best. I never imagined that I could have such an impact on people’s lives. Because of this, I vow to be a bit more careful of what I say.

So I’ve been writing and let me be the first to tell you that the lyrics that I’m writing are… well there’s no word that I can think of that properly defines them. Amazing would be too typical and perfect would be unfair. I listen to the radio sometimes, emphasis on sometimes, and I hear the new music. I like some. I applaud my Young Money family for what they’re doing. As I’m not surprised. This is what we’re supposed to do. Congrats to Drake and Nicki for all their recent success. Those 2 are going to have me retiring early. I love my team. Much love to Tez and Mack. I know that people are inquisitive of what I do all day, so here goes. I wake up around 11AM. Have some coffee. Call my kids, and my wonderful mother. I then shower up. Read fan mail. Have lunch. Back on the phone. Read a book or write some thoughts down. Have dinner. Phone. Pushups. Then I listen to ESPN on the radio. Read the bible, then sleep.That’s my day.

I’ll end this letter, but never my love. I’m gone. Oh, and how ‘bout dem Lakers!?!

Recently Alliance key player, Wayne Marshall released the video for his bubbling single "Messing with my Heart Remix", which features ally Mavado on the track and in the video. I must say it is a very well but together video, shot in high quality, with a unique concept and it has that international appeal (without downright copping some played out American style music video, I know we all have been seeing a lot of that lately, especially with all of this Dancehall/RnB/Hip Hop which has been going on for a while now) without losing its authentic Jamaican feel. I really love how the local videographers/directors are stepping up their game; the standard of the music videos produced,are consistently on par with the greats of those big international music video stations. The collab. album, from veterans Nas and Damian Jr. Gong Marley himself, was released on 4/20 2010, and I am currently enjoying it!

They combine reggae and rap sensually expressing what the album states: they are 'Distant Relatives'. Within this soulful mixture, you can basically feel the impact of the Motherland; doing this by using samples and further collabs from African artistes (such as K'naan) and African melodies. Words cannot truly express the monument of music created by these two near-legendary artistes. So let them explain it:

We don't usually do posts like this, but as one of our country's true individual beacons go to rest, we have to mourn. The "Love Bird" has provided us with exemplary service for the better part of 42 years (mind you, the better part lol).

We've had good memories and bad memories; met amazing people and downright grimmmyy people, but one thing is always sure, we always landed WITHOUT A BUMP!!!!

So we SALVTE you Air J, in the hopes we'll see you again, maybe once we've left these 'greener pastures'. (pun intended)

Once again, the most anticipated hip-hop album for 2010 has been pushed back, this time to June 15. Check out this excerpt from a MTV interview --

MTV NEWS: Talking to MTV News earlier in the evening, the Young Money franchise player revealed the release date for his much-anticipated debut LP, Thank Me Later: June 15.

The date isn't the only gem the "Best I Ever Had" rapper and two-time Grammy nominee dropped. He also revealed that he'll be performing a new song from his album on tour called "Fireworks."

So far, Drake has released one single from the upcoming album: "Over." "We took a trip to Jamaica, where I did a lot of work for my album," he told us on the "Over" video set last month. "There was this calm before the storm, and 'Over' represented the storm to me. It's the moment. I wanted to emerge at first from this album and just let people know 'This is how I'm coming out in the public eye. I'm ready for anything.' Then when you get the album, it's like, 'Oh, he's still human. He's still thinking the same way.' I wanted people to understand I could have lost it. 'Over' could have been my entire album. Just 'cause that's what this industry and game will do to you if you lose yourself."

Drake's Away From Home Tour goes on for the next couple of months with openers Francis and the Lights and K-os. "They're killing it right now," Drake said shortly after taking in Francis and the Lights' set on Monday.

As the trendsetters we are, we told you people over a year and a half ago that you all will be on the Drake-train too, now we bring you Big Sean from G.O.O.D. Music (Kanye's label). Big Sean has been around just about as long as Drake, but sadly he didn't sing "Best I Ever Had", so he is still relatively unknown. However, not for long as he is currently by our standards the next big artiste to be bursting on the scene.

His album, named after is first mixtape "Finally Famous", is slated for release in late 2010 and will carry many heavyweight names, including Kanye, Pharell, The-Dream and more.

With heavy backing from Kanye, it can't be too long before he is "Finally Famous".

Mourning for 2010 (R.I.P Patti-ann "Eva" Lothian)

Its just February 1st and already the headlines look dreary. Just over a week ago we face an accident involving our colleagues, Darren Mitchell and Dominic Moses, thank God they survived.

Now, we are facing the news that our friend and close peer, Patti-Ann Allyssa Lothian has succumbed to fatal injuries following an unfortunate and deeply saddening car accident.

There is not much that can be said, as I am totally speechless. Just know that the world just got a little darker, because such a bright and uplifting person left us.

Patti-Ann has helped us (MVLA) out in so many aspects. Firstly, she made sure we were never short of her moral support. Secondly, she provided us with the link to various photographers, make-up artistes and models. As just another instance out of many, she was currently working on an article introducing Mula Clothing Company, through YouthLink. It was to be published Tuesday.

Patti-Ann deserves our full respect. I propose a moment of silence of sorts, I propose a day off of facebook - no status updates, check up's, uploading. Nothing. She deserves this much, as she was someone who gave so much.

She left abruptly, as most do. So as a way to ensure that you never have any regrets when someone leaves, I suggest you:
- Treat everyone you meet as if he or she were going to drop dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness, and understanding you can muster, and do so with no thought of reward. Your life will never be the same.

To Patti-Ann, simply said: YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN, we will ensure that as long as there is Mula, your memory and selfless acts will live on forever through us and anybody we inspire.

Wyclef Jean On The Validity Of "Yéle Haiti"

In the wake of accusations of fraudulent activity in Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti foundation, Wyclef decided to take time out to address the allegations via youtube.

If you are unfamiliar with the accusations, here is an excerpt from a reporting article off The Smoking Gun:

The Haiti earthquake has already triggered hundreds of thousands of donations to musician Wyclef Jean’s charitable foundation, which expects to raise upwards of $1 million a day in the disaster’s wake. However, Internal Revenue Service records show the group has a lackluster history of accounting for its finances, and that the organization has paid the performer and his business partner at least $410,000 for rent, production services, and Jean’s appearance at a benefit concert. Though the Wyclef Jean Foundation, which does business as Yele Haiti Foundation, was incorporated 12 years ago–and has been active since that time–the group only first filed tax returns in August 2009. That month, the foundation provided the IRS with returns covering calendar years 2005, 2006, and 2007–the only periods for which it has publicly provided a glimpse at its financial affairs. In 2006, Jean’s charity reported contributions of $1 million, the bulk of which came from People magazine in exchange for the first photos of a pregnant Angelina Jolie (the actress reportedly directed that the publication’s payment go to Jean’s charity, not her personally). As seen on the following pages from the foundation’s 2006 tax return, the group paid $31,200 in rent to Platinum Sound, a Manhattan recording studio owned by Jean and Jerry Duplessis, who, like Jean, is a foundation board member. A $31,200 rent payment was also made in 2007 to Platinum Sound. The rent, tax returns assure, “is priced below market value.” The recording studio also was paid $100,000 in 2006 for the “musical performance services of Wyclef Jean at a benefit concert.” That six-figure payout, the tax return noted, “was substantially less than market value.”The return, of course, does not address why Jean needed to be paid to perform at his own charity’s fundraiser. But the largest 2006 payout–a whopping $250,000–went to Telemax, S.A., a for-profit Haiti company in which Jean and Duplessis were said to “own a controlling interest.” The money covered “pre-purchased…TV airtime and production services” that were part of the foundation’s “outreach efforts” in Haiti. No further description of these services was offered, though the return claimed that “the fees paid are below market” and that the use of Telemax was the “most efficient way of providing these services.” The group’s tax returns also report “consultant” payments totaling $300,000 between 2005-2007, while the 2006 return reported nearly $225,000 in “promotion and PR” costs. These expenses are not itemized further in the IRS returns.

Haiti Relief Effort: CNN’s Anderson Cooper Carries Child Covered in Blood

Last night, during Anderson Cooper 360 coverage of the relief efforts in Haiti, he showed a very graphic scene of a child injured after ‘looters’ began throwing rocks and pieces of concrete from a store roof. The boy was hit on the head by a chunk of concrete and was bleeding profusely. This video, while obscenely graphic and completely despicable, illustrates how a nation and a people that seem civilized, can revert to basic instincts of survival. This cannot be used to judge whether these people deserve help or not, because as humans we are also animals, and when stripped of the comforts of our "civil" life; we will act as such. So instead, this should prove that help is NEEDED in Haiti, now more than ever to get the citizens back to a state of calm, so eventually they can help themselves.
